On the front is a U-shaped horseshoe, which collects fortune. Its hollow is said to symbolize "accumulating wealth and love," and when inverted, it also functions as a talisman against evil, an ancient motif of protection.

Enveloping the entire piece is an engraving of ocean waves (kalei kini) embodying the power of the Hawaiian sea. It carries meanings of rebirth, progress, and healing, granting strength to overcome challenges. Excessive floral decorations were intentionally omitted, resulting in a clean design that embeds meaning within its simplicity.
